Trump cannot pardon himself for state crimes in Georgia. Biden cannot pardon Trump for state crimes. It is also important to note that most likely everyone on this call was a Republican, and the person who recorded and leaked the call is likely a Republican. Plus Trump may not be the only person on that call that is legally at risk due to Trump's behavior on that call, especially if they did not report the crime. If I worked in the White House and I was on that call, the first thing I would want to do is speak to a lawyer. Trump may just get away with this, he may not. The calculus for determining that is not the same as it has been for the scrapes that Trump has had previously. Plus he has not been making friends with Republicans recently especially in Georgia. Trump may be getting closer to having his "et tu Brute" moment. When the Republican leadership finally decides it's them or Trump, things will happen quickly. And if he does finally have his Julius Caesar moment there will likely be a LOT of Republicans who put their knives in. It's sad, but Trump is at risk of destroying the Republican party, but that was predicable four years ago. Kemp may have the power to pardon Trump, but the question is, will he want to after Trump has called on him to resign, etc? Its kind of humorous in a way. People complaining about Trump are just as much part of the problem as the people who love him. Because they've been complacent and supportive of this shit and have demonstrated total hypocrisy time and again. People who just spent 4 years whining about rigged elections despite zero proof now claiming its impossible to rig the election! Imagine that? The system is garbage and neither group represents the interests of the people but as long as one side doesnt care as long as they win, 50%(give or take a few %) will allow the status quo to continue. Things will only begin to change when you have 75%+ support from the citizens to burn the thing down. And the longer it goes on the more likely that 75% will be comprised of the filth you see in NYC and Portland demanding free rent and reparations rather than reasonable and well intentioned folks. The U.S. has lots of checks and balances that protected it. But it is foolish to discount that there is/was a very real tail risk of an existential threat to the U.S. with someone like Trump in power. The system has held...for now (yet he has many complicit allies in government even now). You see it here as well--some people will never stop defending him no matter what he does.
