LearningMachine
As investors, we sometimes might forget why we rely on financial statements of U.S. companies more than say those of Chinese companies. The reason is we have a strong independent judiciary that specializes in deciding credibility of evidence, and making decisions based on rule of law, and not subject to bribery or corruption. This is why we are able to have faith that our companies are not making false financial statements for the most part, and why we can rely on SEC cases to be decided based on credibility and logic, and that those who make false statements will be sentenced appropriately in criminal cases. This is also what keeps our democracy running. We should cherish our independent judiciary. It is sacrosanct. Here is a beautifully written logical order by a Trump appointed judge from today that folks might be interested in: https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.txed.203073/gov.uscourts.txed.203073.37.0.pdf. It also lays out the process that will be followed on January 6: Most relevant here, Section 15 requires both the House of Representatives and the Senate—by votes of their full membership rather than by state delegations—to decide any objection. dwy000
The fact that this is even under discussion is the most incredible part of it! There is ZERO evidence or proof of any election interference and the Trump camp has lost 60 cases trying to show it. It shocked me how far the Republican party has moved from the party of small government, fiscal responsibility and freedoms to one of dictatorship and allegiance to a single person. The party I used to vote for is gone and may never come back.
LearningMachine
The fact that this is even under discussion is the most incredible part of it! There is ZERO evidence or proof of any election interference and the Trump camp has lost 60 cases trying to show it. It shocked me how far the Republican party has moved from the party of small government, fiscal responsibility and freedoms to one of dictatorship and allegiance to a single person. The party I used to vote for is gone and may never come back. Imagine a company had made several controversial claims to investors. Imagine, there were 60 lawsuits alleging those claims to be false. Imagine independent triers of fact (who were somehow appointed by that company's leader himself) found those claims to be false in each of those 60 lawsuits. Will you trust that company to be making true statements again? Will you ever invest in that company? Then, why did 74 million human neural nets bond so strongly with those company leaders that they voted for them and still believe what those company leaders say? Why do they react so strongly with "my way or highway" type arguments and don't think in terms nuances and subtleties, range of credibilities, range of probabilities, etc.? For those of us into AI can probably appreciate how neural nets train on "features" based on top of raw data. Human neural nets identify some surface-level "features" of other human neural nets very quickly, e.g. race, skin color, facial features, gender, how they talk, etc. When human neural nets are worried about some things that are important to them, and are looking for identity that extends beyond their human body, they can sometimes get caught up in forming identity with leaders possibly based on those "features" to the extent that they start believing that the leading human neural-net has got their back, and will take care of them against other human neural nets, no matter what happens. They start thinking in terms of us vs. them, instead of us human neural nets all in it together. They stop thinking rationally that they might be giving up power to decide who is their leader in the future. Hoping folks will be able to resist responding with "my way or highway" type arguments to this thread, and will be able to identify themselves as a rational human neural net first that will believe human neural nets specializing in deciding credibility and making decisions based on rule of law. In any case, I hope the new administration thinks hard about how to take care of those 74 million human neural nets, listen to their concerns and truly try to address them to stop the division in this country. LC
You guys are making a fundamental error. As the saying goes, "It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into."
cwericb
It would be very interesting to see what the average IQ of Trump supporters has been. However I guess that even some smart people have been attracted to cults.

cubsfan
That's why your hero cheating Democratic Leaders refer to Trump voters as deplorables, irredeemables, and dirty Walmart shoppers. Those Trump voters are definitely beneath you brilliant liberals.
cwericb
I know some very smart people that are REALLY pro Trump. As do I. I have known a lot of 'smart' people who have absolutely zero common sense. Then there are some smart people who can be very naive and easily led. So when you are dealing with followers of a cult they lose sight of reality and have tunnel vision when it comes to their leader.
