Yea I watched for like 15 minutes and then switched back to the Yankee game. Too predictable from what I saw. Trump raging and interrupting every two minutes. Biden stuttering/rambling and then pivoting into typical politician bookend phrases. Chris Wallace yelling at Trump and letting Biden interrupt freely.

Well for all of you who did not watch the debate. I hate to break the news... Sleepy Joe MIGHT have had a career night. One key with debates is performance versus expectations. Biden came in with very low expectations (thanks to Trump). He looked like the outright winner of the debate to me. So in terms of performance versus expectations Biden did very well.

What is worse for Trump is he said lots of highly inappropriate things that are going to now going to hit the Twittersphere (gotta love soundbites). So we will see, but the ‘spin’ could further damage him. (My personal favourite was at the end when i think he murmered for white supremacists to be ‘ready’ - something like that - when asked about a peaceful transfer of power once the election results are known... but i MUST have mis heard because that would be bat shit crazy.)

So coming in to the debate Trump was doing very poorly. We will see what the polls say in another week or so but my guess is at a minimum Biden will maintain his strong lead and will perhaps see a small bump. (Most people have already made up their mind.) Trump needed a strong showing and instead he got roughed up.

Sleepy Joe... didn’t know you had it in you!

If you watched the debate a little more Chris chastised Trump pretty good. What he said to Trump is prior to the debate Trump had agreed to a certain set of rules that he (Trump) was repeatedly breaking. It did the job as Trump backed off for a while.

WTF?

If this is indeed what Trump said then the US is in deep shit in 5 weeks. No sugar coating this one.

But hey, it sounds like Trump supporters are good with this. If Trump doesn’t win then let the country burn.

It was his answer to being asked to condemn white supremacists

This came though loud and clear tonight. Trump has been tilling the soil on this topic for weeks. And tonight he made it crystal clear. HE IS NOT LEAVING OFFICE. And every option is on the table to keep him in office. If this issue gets traction i think he is screwed. Are we seeing desperation setting in?

Trump Sent a Warning. Let’s Take It Seriously.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/29/opinion/trump-election-fraud-2020.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage

“President Trump has made it unmistakably clear in recent weeks — and even more crystal clear at the Tuesday debate — that there are only two choices before voters on Nov. 3 — and electing Joe Biden is not one of them.

The president has told us in innumerable ways that either he will be re-elected or he will delegitimize the vote by claiming that all mail-in ballots — a time-honored tradition that has ushered Republicans and Democrats into office and has been used by Trump himself — are invalid.“

Yeah and Joe Biden said Antifa didn’t exist...

That is completely false. He was quoting Trump's FBI director in saying it exists as an ideology. It's Trump's FBI director who said that and Biden was relaying that same point. Existing as an idea is still an existence. It's apples and oranges and a dangerously false equivalence to compare that with a guy blatantly dog whistling to what should be a domestic terror organization. And just look on social media, the proud boys are loving the shout out. What a disgrace.

Sleepy Joe... didn’t know you had it in you!

I thought Trump won this hands down.  I watched the whole thing.  Yeah, he acted as his usual bully, jackass self, but he was also far more concise and direct than Biden.  Biden looked far, far older than Trump...slow, pondering, etc.

It wasn't until Biden was talking about his son Beau that he started to stand  up and fight back.  He took it on the chin earlier when Trump went after Hunter...Biden looked like an old man begging a mugger to stop beating him!

The second half was a bit better for Biden when it got into climate change, election voting, etc, but I thought Trump won this pretty handily...sadly!  Chris Wallace should have run for the Democrats instead, because he was actually able to combat Trump's interruptions and behavior.

But I'm worried now that Trump will get a second term.  Maybe if Biden stood up and said some of the things he needs to, like:

- Yeah, Antifa are assholes like Proud Boys!

- Trump, your a dick!

- Yeah, my son Hunter is a problem child, but your kids are spoiled brats who will bullshit their way through life and live off the family trust!

- I'm going to punch this guy in his orange face if he keeps interrupting!

- Trump, you lie like a hooker at Mardi Gras...and you know you've been with that hooker!

Maybe, if he fought back, he might have a chance, but he did not win tonight!  Cheers!

If you want another perspective on who won the debate look at what stock futures did after the debate ended... the dropped 0.5%. We will see where they open in the morning.

Sorry to say it but I think Trump might be cooked. The issue is he is so far down in the polls it looks like Republicans might lose the senate. This could turn into a landslide for the Democrats. One has to wonder at what point Republicans don’t start to flee the sinking ship. They might be able to save their skin. If this happens then Trump is screwed. The emperor (who everyone hates) is starting to look weak... will we see knives?

Proud Boys comment is the one i am going to be watching in the coming days. My guess is it will not resonate with moderates, educated, females. Just a ‘flesh wound’ says Trump (gotta love Monty Python). Trump is opening up too many new fronts to win this war. Endorsing Proud Boys is not going to do it (someone should tell Trump he already has those votes).

Trump Refused to Condemn White Supremacists and Said 'Stand By' for the Proud Boys

The far-right Proud Boys are celebrating President Trump's debate comments as an endorsement.

Good lord. Not too long ago we had several of the lefties claiming that the stock market had been rising in anticipation of a Biden presidency, before going back to talking about seeing dead people and brownshirts...now, the futures are down -200 points...must mean Biden won the debate! But hey, we need more info to verify who won...lets go see what The NY Times has to say.

You guys really are losing it.

Here is the clip.

Chris asked if Trump would condemn white supremacy etc. he replies “sure”. He then asked Chris to clarify who specifically he needs to renounce. The. Trump said “Proud boys stand back and stand by.” To me the “stand by” came across more like “move to the side” but I could be wrong. Didn’t Trump just label KKK domestic terrorists last week? Not to mention Proud Boys if you look them up are not white supremacists and are instead more neoconservatives wanting to protect “extreme western values”. We have discussed this before on this sub that you can’t control who backs you. Deal can’t control the radical socialists who back then like Trump couldn’t control David Duke supporting him. All these groups have to pick a candidate to endorse for publicity sake. It’s easy media points.

Back to the ANTIFA part.

The question from Chris is directed at Trump initially but is framed first with ”You have repeated criticized the VP for not specifically calling out antifa”

Joe Biden later goes on to say “antifa is an ideology. That’s from your own FBI director.”

Trump responds “Well he is wrong.”

Biden responds “Everyone tells you the truth”

Biden is agreeing with this FBI claim that he brought up and Biden also did not condemn the violence. It’s a scape goat answer. This view is shared all throughout the Democratic Party. Just go ask Jerry “it’s a myth” Nadler.

Trump brought up the point that the majority of the violence and property destruction is from the left. Sorry but anyone who says “white nationalist” groups are responsible for all the riots, violence, and property damage  has their head up their ass. It’s almost all related to BLM. These opposition groups have popped up because mayors left their citizens high and dry. Governors left their citizens high and dry. These equally bad in ideology groups would not be growing in force if politicians would have done their job to uphold law and order in the first place. People eventually take things into their own hands. Unfortunately that often means strong opposing views clashing in extreme situations.

BLM started the riots < mayors ignore the problem < citizens lose millions in property damage < nationalist groups show up to fill the gap

But yet according to the left, it’s all the fault of white supremacy and these opposition groups need to stand down and quit creating violence? What bizarro world is this?

However both Trump and Biden said they wanted peace. I would say this exchange is more about political vote pandering. Biden wants as many votes as he can get just like Trump. Although neither probably endorse either extreme group. They both know a vote is a vote.

Just watched the full replay and there wasn't much missed. Pretty awful all around. Joe's strongest moments were when he could fall back into the comfort of belting out decades of scripted politician slogans, and when given the opportunity to go from debating to staging his "pleas" into the camera attempting to talk to the American people. Otherwise he was pretty hollow and spent a whole lot of time making weird facial expressions and looking around the room like he forgot where he was.

That said, I thought Biden did better than I would have expected. Indeed the bar was low.

The key take aways were definitely that Biden basically admitted he's going to shut down the country if elected. He also denied supporting the Green New Deal while pimping it and supporting the heck out of its major talking points at the same time....bizarre. Much like in 2016, the moderator did very little to quell the notion that media is against Trump. Biden went through the entire thing name calling and interrupting without ever really getting called out. By the end, Biden/Wallace were laughing with each other and basically high fiving. The phrasing of a lot of the questions such as the one on healthcare also seemed riddled with bias. Trump all in all just came off like he wanted to argue about everything and failed to really have a defining moment.

But who knows. Lets ask SE Cupp and Jake Tapper what they think? Or maybe see what the celebrities are saying on Twitter!

Castanza, you have a bunch of different parts of the debate in your post so it is a little confusing. So let’s just look at one issue. The really cool thing is the debate was actually taped so there is kind of proof exactly was was said. And Trump was very clear. If you want to understand what a person stands for often the best thing to do is simply listen to what they say. Then we don’t need to guess... we kind of know... because they actually said it :-) You know... the words come out of their mouth one by one.

Question: Will Trump condemn white supremacist groups?

Answer? No. In fact he promotes one of the groups on national television.

Proof? Go to the web site of Proud Boys. They are running with Trumps words of support. Might just be time for a little recruitment drive :-) maybe buy a few more guns... the President needs out help!

Holy white supremacist militia batman. Who needs the law enforcement or the FBI. The US now has Proud Boys to do whatever the President wants. The US will now be a much safer country. That guy Trump is a stable genius. Gasoline everywhere. Good thing there is not an election or something really important right around the corner. All it would take is a match... and kaboom.

—————————

“Are you tonight willing to condemn white supremacist and militia groups, and to see they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities as we saw in Kenosha, and as we’ve seen in Portland?” moderator Chris Wallace asked.

“I would say almost everything I see is from the left wing,” Trump responded. “Not from the right wing… I want to see peace.”

Then do it, sir,” Wallace replied.

“What do you want me to call it?” Trump said amid cross-talk.

“Proud Boys,” Biden said, referring to the far-right street-fighting gang that rallied in Portland, Oregon, this past weekend.

Proud Boys? Stand back and stand by,” said Trump. “But I'll tell you what, somebody's gotta do something about antifa and the left, because this is not a right-wing problem; this is a left-wing problem.”

Trump was logical and right about everything while Biden acts like typical politician repeating slogans.

Well, other than: "I am the Democratic Party." LMAO

Oh and if Viking is so attentive and listening to every word then he will notice that Biden told Trump to "Shut-up" and other unpresidential terms. Parsad must have been impressed or just like since few months where he resorted to insults with Greg and others. Trump surely did interrupt (as his counterpart) but, kept his calm and points were made.

After this debate and anyone with a rational mind knows Trump's platform while Biden kept pivoting in and out from socialists such as not supporting Green New Deal but, having is own version with a few billions that Wallace finally destroyed that crazy notion.

Regarding Wallace, I think he did a fine job. He should have told Joe to stop interrupting and also to remain polite as we are on National TV but, questioning was balanced and unbiased IMO.

However my hopes are low. People are so influenced by what is said by journalists and on TV that they will likely vote the socialists in. Once votes are counted which will likely take a week, Trump will gracefully exit.

He will then watch and comment on America's economic ruin, China, Russia once again stomping on U.S. throat, endless BLM riots brought about by these fools like we have in Canada.

I thought Trump did pretty well, just by acting less as himself.

I was concerned that he would throw the chair at the moderator but refraining.

This is not the Biden that I remember from the McCain-Palin debate more than a decade ago. The man served his country but today’s optics is that he has no energy.

The reality is that this is not a vote between Trump and Biden but rather vote between keeping a disrupter or going back to the status quo. I can see Trump slamming his own party if needs be and getting them in line, I cannot see Biden being able to do that to his own party.

I don't usually watch these things, but I watched last night because I thought it would be funny.  It was not.  Trump was, well, he was Trump, rude, obnoxious, kept interrupting. He usually does this in a funny way, but besides the orgasm joke, he was completely humorless last night.  Biden was slow and visibly trying to hold it together.  When Biden wasn't childishly going back at Trump (even telling him to shut up), every word out of his mouth could be fit into two categories:  Government should raise taxes and, Government should spend more money.

We're screwed.
