Mr. Trump on Thursday told reporters both that he didn’t “know anything about the project at all” and that he “didn’t like that project” because he thought it was “being done for showboating reasons.” He said he hadn’t dealt with Mr. Bannon “for a very long period of time.” https://www.wsj.com/articles/former-senior-trump-advisor-steve-bannon-charged-with-alleged-fundraising-scheme-11597931727?mod=hp_lead_pos1

The good news for Bannon is that Trump didn't say "it is what it is". The bad news is that he didn't say "I wish her well". To analyze his statement, it's hilarious that he "didn't know anything about the project at all", but he did know enough to know that he "didn't like that project" and he even remembers the exact reason he didn't like the project which is that after considering the project that he didn't know anything about, he had concluded that the project was "being done for showboating reasons". To conclude, Trump's take away is never steal Trump's limelight. So much for the four men who are accused of crimes for which they face prison and the victims of a fraud. I actually saw the pitch for this "project" some time ago and I thought "what a ridiculous joke, it's amazing that anyone would fall for that. I feel sorry for them." It's also interesting that Bannon was arrested on the boat of a man who is accused of running similar scams in China and is in exile as a result and that Bannon and the exile have reportedly raised $800 million domestically. Edit: Actually I see that he did say that he felt bad for Steve at some point.

Mephistopheles
I think among the many many scandals, indictments, and convictions of people with ties to the President, this one will stand out. It may be easy to brainwash someone into believing that Russian influence in our election is fake news or that COVID is a hoax. But when you directly steal from these very people it becomes much more concrete and direct. For this reason I don't think Trump will pardon Bannon; he has no choice but to distance himself from this. Bannon may then be open to talking. Voting against your own self interest has a whole new meaning when you're literally being conned of your money. Or maybe these people will fall further into denial... I really want to see one of these 4 goons create a go fund me to help cover their legal bills Lol

Now Go Fund Me may be his only way to pay his legal bills. Although we haven't heard from the conspiracy theorists yet, so he may not be guilty and maybe framed by AOC or Kamala Harris! Cheers I wouldn't be so sure. Bannon violated the cardinal rule of outshining Trump on multiple occasions, so Bannon is definitely in the doghouse, but Bannon likely has information that could put Trump in jail if Bannon strikes a plea deal with SDNY which will generally would require full disclosure regarding all information regarding this and any other crimes Bannon has information on as part of the plea deal. Plus Trump really likes "negotiating" with people who are in weak, compromised positions. It's the art of his dealings anyway. Oh and by the way Obama was way worse! ::) It's been going on a long time. It's really something. ::)

Isn‘t that his #6 advisor from his inner circle that ran into trouble with law. has anyone ever met a person who had 6 convicts (Technically Bannon is not a convict yet but I guess he will be) in his inner circle who isn’t criminal himself? Imagine getting a pitch for a company where the CFO, Head of HR, chief operating officer, chief legal advisor, Head of Investor Relations, Director of the Board are all criminals and someone want to sell you this investment because the CEO is great and prior management was worse :o? I guess I would pass onto that one.

You already know the impeccable logic you’d hear from some: “all corporate execs are greedy, motivated by money, and therefore corrupt, so these guys are no different and on the same level as management of any other business out there”. Clown logic leads to clown results.
Gregmal
Well, or you could just use your brain and either avoid, or if its so obvious, short that business/investment.... The only way to apply this same type of decision making to US politics would perhaps be to short the currency, which....hasnt worked out well either. Mephistopheles
Why do you think this one stands out? Isn‘t that his #6 advisor from his inner circle that ran into trouble with law. has anyone ever met a person who had 6 convicts (Technically Bannon is not a convict yet but I guess he will be) in his inner circle who isn’t criminal himself? I'm just saying that this scandal directly effects the people who support him. 1) A President who promised a wall 2) the President's people then raising funds for that wall from poor or middle class people 3) and that money being used to buy luxury boats. I think the reputation harm caused by this among his supporters can be significantly worse than, say, the reputation harm caused by Roger Stone lying under oath or witness tampering or Rick Gates conspiring against the United States. It really reminds me of the financial crisis problems at BAC, JPM, C vs. the fake account scandal at WFC. One of these situations caused minimal financial harm to the bank AND to the customers yet it's safe to say that it's probably fared the worst out of them all from a PR standpoint. Edit: having said that, it's probably more likely Trump will convince his cult followers that they are not to believe what they see. Imagine getting a pitch for a company where the CFO, Head of HR, chief operating officer, chief legal advisor, Head of Investor Relations, Director of the Board are all criminals and someone want to sell you this investment because the CEO is great and prior management was worse :o? Lol, if this was an investment topic, then the deep dive, fact driven, value investors on this forum would universally fall into line with this sentiment. But because it's politics people have a tribal nature and refuse to see facts or use common sense.

adesigar
^ Of course! The Tyranny of the LEFT continues. So let me get this right. You (and others like you) think its ok for Steve Bannon to suggest Fauci and Wray should be beheaded. You are not criticizing that. You however think that its tyrannical that private companies don't want this on their site. Bannon is free to say what he wants. Private companies are free to decide what they want on their sites. He can say anything he wants and they can make ANY rules they want. Don't like it? Bye then (pronounce it BI..DEN)
cubsfan
^ It seems that way adesigar, doesn't it. No problem depicting the beheaded Trump, blowing up the White House, murdering the President on Broadway plays, assassinating the President, etc. You got it straight for once in your life. There is no way any of that was/is fine either and I am completely in favor of those people being perma banned on social media. You however said that social media companies banning Steve Bannon who suggested beheading people who have been telling the truth as "Tyranny of the LEFT". Even in the above post you avoided criticizing Bannon. That says a lot.

Let's see him deliver on that one. The press doesn't say a peep about that though, yet just a few weeks ago the ridiculed Trump for saying that there would be a vaccine by the end of the year.
