This is my first post since having been kicked out temporarily around 6 months ago.

I cannot believe that this thread is allowed to survive and/or with no consequence to the initiator on what is a direct attack on one's beliefs.

Purely disgusting!

If I am kicked out for attacking some of these agressive and highly vocal Leftists then why is nothing done to protect what I have known to be a peaceful poster such as Stahleyp, whom by the way I have not always agreed with?

In case anyone missed the joke, LC was rather hilariously goading Paul in to going off topic, here:

https://www.cornerofberkshireandfairfax.ca/forum/politics/republican-voters-against-trump/440/

So at least by child logic, Paul is right, it's not his fault. LC started it.

I try to be nice to Paul because he is such a respectful poster and has been nice enough to at least pretend my jokes are funny in the past, and because I take pity on him as one of the few posters who still can't figure out how to find the "Religion" section of CoB&F, which is a shame, because the "Religion" section is even more fun than the "Politics" section. I encourage everyone to give it a chance at least once.

Welcome back! I think you have a point with respect to some of the double standard, but personally, I think the solution is just for everyone to have thicker skin and not take everything so seriously. Its all in fun, even the quarreling amongst finance interested dorks. Even the "go kill/fuck/whatever yourself" comments.

This thread reminds me of my favorite verse from my World's Religions class in middle school:

And to the forgotten and lost of the world, the lord spoketh and it was good for it was of the heavens and of the earth and of the mud. And those who heard him speaketh, yes they repenteth, and yes, the lord was pleased and gaveth to them six of the goats. And when the sixth goat was thus slaughtered on the fullest of moons, yes the lord threw open the gates of satan's manor itself, and all these who had made the repents, and all those who had made the slaughter of goats, yes they emerged back into the light. And the light was bright, and the light was warm, though not as warm as the flames of satan's manor, and yes, the light was good. Thus spoketh the lord.

+1 I agree.  The subject of this thread did give me a laugh.  I have nothing against Stahleyp, but he does tend to want to bring every conversation back to Jesus.  So back on topic. What would Jesus invest in?

Who doesn't reminisce fondly about the good ole days of skool! The 3 glorious P's. Pussy, Parties, Playing sports. Although I suppose the "who doesnt" question can be answered by, probably a few tech and finance folks who weren't athletic, didnt get invited to parties, and weren't exactly graceful with the ladies....but generally speaking....fun times.

hahaha dude, lc started it!

Paul, I didn't want to say so for risk of hurting your feelings, but I'm pretty sure that not only did LC start it, he was also winning.

As far as I can tell, the only way to win one of these fights is to have more bible quotes. In the previous thread, I think LC had about three quotes for each of yours? And now, here in your own eponymous thread, he's leading you one to zero at this point.

I'm not sure what's come over LC, but it seems at this point, he can only express himself in biblical quotes, so you've got yourself some fierce competition.

That depends on the person. StahleyP is a good sport. But he could have just as easily gotten all butthurt as many often do. Then what? Its subjective to whether people cry or not? The problem I assume is getting solved either way in a few weeks, but he's not wrong.

I guess I am seeing the light.

Sure, science has given us great things like skyscrapers and airlines.

But it takes religion to bring them together.  :-\

Yup, because he is a quiet poster as I said, although he should not take it this way.

I see it as nothing else but, an effort to silence another non-believer in leftist garbage by a serial "tangent" specialist mouthpiece of the left. And what do they have to fear for abuse, rough language and what not.

Too bad Parsad that you can't see the light. Not my fault if you gotten bullied by some white folks in your youth. Did Trump kick you out of North America because of your race yet. No he didn't and you were wrong. Time to wake-up.

It's not every topic! haha

It usually involves lc's moral opinion and his firmness in them. At least with you, rk, you admit morality is only an opinion.  ;)

I'm pretty sure I didn't quote the Bible. My argument is a logical one.

If God doesn't exist, then it's really quite silly to look down on someone's moral decisions. That person is simply evolutionarily programmed to be a liar and conman. Some people are wired to be honest and hardworking. Neither is really better or worse, just different. So Trump has just as much "insight" into moral issues as lc or anyone else does.  In fact, Trump might actually be better off because he's not restrained from moral dogmas and used that to become quite wealthy and powerful.

So the bottom line is that if atheism is accurate, there is no real moral standard - just an illusion of one. Once you realize it's just an illusion/opinion, why be so committed to it?

LOL I'll bite. Morality is largely driven by perception of social norms and generally acceptable behavior. It was legal to own slaves for a while, and this wasn't even controversial in much of the country. Women were property and not allowed to vote. This was widely accepted by most as well. Blacks were considered 60% of a person. A "satisfactory" compromise for both sides. Its all relative.

C'mon Paul, we all know what the good book says about trying to use logic and reason:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."(Isa. 55:8–9)

Remember, yours is a religion of faith.

P.S. While I think we have a pretty good rapport, if you ever feel I am being rude, be comforted that I am simply trying to get you into your heaven:

"22 Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. 23 “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven."

As always, a smart and respectful response. Obviously I was kidding about the way to win an argument is to keep a running score of the biblical quotes, and I also didn't get a sense that either of you were trying to "win". Your exchange was intelligent, and simultaneously full of humor, and of course . . . off on a tangent to the thread.

Thank you, Paul, for your patience and your willingness to join in the fun you two were having in an attempt at interjecting some hopefully harmless humor during what is a stressful time for many people. If you have taken offense in any way, I apologize. To me the point of the joke was 100% about going off topic and especially the particulars of this exchange and I thought it would be funnier to blame you entirely than to recognize LC's role.

It's fine with me if this thread is deleted, or if LC's name is added to the title in recognition of your ongoing collaboration in the field of off topic philosophical discussions. It does seem that there is suddenly a politically correct element that is trying to shut down humor and engage in cancel culture here, so at a minimum, I think we need to hope for LC to spontaneously express enthusiastic consent so that we aren't accused of doing violence to him by adding his name to the thread.

And before any of you libertarians or right wingers attack anyone and call them a snowflake or a lefty, let me say that the people who engage in cancel culture sincerely believe that they are doing the right thing. In addition, standing up for the least among us is a natural human trait and is admirable. Plus name calling won't do anything to make the situation better. So I ask for you to exercise patience on their behalf.

It would be a shame if this new wave of CoB&F cancel culture were to limit the ability to be funny on CoB&F. I thought rkbabang's "So back on topic. What would Jesus invest in?" was funnier than anything I've posted here, Paul's responses were hilarious, and the video that Cubs posted was probably funnier than any of us, but there's almost too much subtle silliness to mention in only three pages so far, including the fact that we are at risk of going on all sorts of off subject tangents on a thread that makes fun of going off topic.
