Monarchy and Progressive Politics

This post is a bit tongue in cheek.  I find it super weird that Europe, being at the forefront of progressive politics, has many monarchies.  This whole Meghan and Prince Harry saga is so weird.  How are European mentally okay with progressive topics like gender fluidity, legalization of drug use, equal pays etc and then there are literally queens, prince, and princess.  This just blows my mind.

LOL Prepare for the flakes to scream and cry and then melt and your thread banished to the politics section!

Although I agree and find the subject amusing. I continue to be moderately perturbed by the amount of Harry and his girlfriend bullshit news I have to sift through on many of my "world news" feeds. Why are these self consumed jerk offs so important to people?

So upset that a thread about politics is placed in a sub-forum entitled "Politics"  ::) ::)

On England, it's pretty well known that Parliament and the PM run the show. The royal family wield very little actual power, their daily contribution is basically to sell tabloids. I'd say it's a bit of a silly topic, really.

Well, the monarchies are a result of history. Like the appendix in our body, some countries never got rid of them, so they were incorporated into the democracy. The French guillotined their king, which solved the problem. In Germany, the last Kaiser (Wilhelm II) was so discredited after WW1 that he went in exile and never came back.

I think the weirdness is more around the fact that the public gets quite butt hurt over so many topics and yet I can't escape Prince Harry and Meghan in the last few weeks.
