Castanza
I’m sure some of you have been following the disturbing happenings in Hong Kong. We have now witnessed torture, use of vehicles, and murders (firearm) from the police, as well as brutal beating of pregnant women and protestors daily. Well it turns out that students are picking up bows and arrows to fight this oppressive government. Let this be an example of why people of any sovereign nation have a right to own and protect themselves with firearms which are equal to those carried by the police and military. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.abc.net.au/article/11713142 As goes history and human nature, I’m sure things will continue to escalate. This last guy is more American than most people in this country.
rkbabang
"Hong Kong is the land of the brave" Yes, they certainly deserve that title far more than Americans do. They are fighting for the freedom they love while Americans are turning into socialists begging to be enslaved. Unfortunately they are a few million people fighting a communist nation with a population numbering in the 10 figures. They will be crushed. It will be the greatest tragedy in our lifetimes, the loss of one of the freest places that has ever existed, and the world will be silent. LC
This last guy is more American than most people in this country. "Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere". Thanks for sharing that, I had not seen it. It is shameful that America and the rest of western civilization is sitting on its hands. We should be supporting the people of HK in every way possible. Just FYI if anyone is interested:
Cardboard
Go to war for them? No thanks! Fight and force out socialists in our land? Yup!
LC
Go to war for them? No thanks! Fight and force out socialists in our land? Yup! How grateful I am that France ignored this type of isolationist advice when providing support during the American Revolution.
Spekulatius
The folks in HK have my sympathy , but realistically what can the US do in this case? HK is China technically. yes, they have a 1 country 2 system rule so far, but Hk is foremost an internal affair. We better watch out for Taiwan though. If the Chinese get their way, they could well be next.

Just wait until its economy is 50% larger and it is less reliant on exports for growth. Watch how it flexes its muscles (lots of historic wrongs to be righted). Hong Kong is in deep trouble. Taiwan is next. Also expect territory expansion in south east Asia seas. Chug chug chug. We need Trump gone so the West/Japan/Korea can work in some sort of coordinated effort to start to check China. It surprises me that people are surprised at the human rights abuses in Hong Kong. In China there are no human rights. If you say something the government does not like you disappear. I continue to think that companies like Apple (that have so much of their business manufactured in China) are taking on an incredible amount of risk. Right now Apple touts how environmentally friendly its products are. Over time i think people will also want to know they are manufactured in countries that respect basic human rights. The worm is slowly turning.
