She was struck by a car driven by an illegal in a hit & run accident. Part of it was captured on video surveillance. I am not close to this person, and have not seen them in many years, but I know her two children well. They are simply beside themselves with anger and grief. The police doubt they will be able to apprehend the suspect, which adds to their grief. Put aside the "status" of the person who killed their mother, I feel very bad for them. Sad indeed, especially for the surviving kids. As a dad of two, I know it’s got to be devastating for the surviving family. Hope they get the offender. Perhaps between the partial surveillance video and any bystanders on the scene, enough facial recognition evidence remains to work with. I am not privy to the police report, and I did not want to dig too deep.... She was killed in front of another family who witnessed the event and was lucky they weren't also killed. They were crossing the street when the car barrelled through. She was also in different city, as she was on vacation at the time. There are some surveillance videos...but most of them are not very good. They got a partial plate? Think they had tracked down the right vehicle, was bought but never re-registered or insured. The videos show a man driving the car, and some of his characteristics. Police have some other clues? but nothing is 100%. Police stated it was almost certainly an illegal alien. They may have evidence that they are not sharing with the family? There are also some other factors that I'm not going into for privacy reasons.
