Castanza
Is it just me or does every single one of the Democratic candidates seem extremely weak? I mean there is a self help author running and her one liner was something like "I will fight Trump with political love." Roughly 50% of the population is 35 and older. I said it before and I'll say it again. How on earth do we continue to end up with such terrible candidates to lead this country? Although a bit premature, I don't see how any of these candidates will challenge Trump who is the ultimate marketer. Especially with the fact that the voting base is probably split among Harris, Sanders, and Biden with others (Tulsi, Gillibrand, Beto, Buttigieg, and Yang) taking sizable small positions effectively being the Ralph Nadars of the primaries. These votes most likely won't transfer to other candidates as we saw with Sanders and Hillary last election cycle. I can only hope we see a strong contention for a third party this year (cough cough Justin Amash) Side note: Lets keep this discussion away from Trump policies and critique unless comparing campaigning abilities....please :D
rkbabang
Tulsi sounds best on foreign policy, anti-war, but sounds like the rest if them on everything else. None of the others are good on any subject. Are there any Democrats left who understands basic free market economics? Not in the Democratic primaries there aren't. Are there any Democrats who don't want to disarm everyone? Not in the Democratic primaries there aren't. And even Tulsi's refreshing anti-war talk you have to take with a grain of salt. Obama ran against Bush's wars, then turned around and was worse than Bush. Trump sounded anti-war during the election and has been as bad as Obama. So, yeah, I've seen this one before. Gregmal
Biden, as I've said before, I can live with. Klobacher or whatever her name is in Minnesota is not terrible either. The rest though? Sanders, Harris, Booker, Pocahontas, etc are all clown like caricatures of the loony tunes movement; it is the "mostest diversest" contest, with ultimately hollow egomaniacs and change their positions on just about everything as regularly as the wind blows based on what flimsy social movement is currently trendy. You have Warren lying about her heritage; Harris covering the multiracial/female that signifies so many oh so significant "firsts" which if elected show "just how far we've come", and even de Blasio, white guy who hates white people, with the black wife and gay kid.... its a game of who can check the most boxes. They are running on that, and a combination of "I hate Trump more! Impeach, Impeach, Impeach!" along with the same failed identity politics rhetoric that didn't work for Hillary. Its amusing they haven't a clue yet that this just isn't working for them. Amash I used to find refreshing, but his latest antics serve no purpose other than self promotion. He can address whatever he wants behind closed doors. He doesn't need to be opining on impeachment because 1) its not happening and 2) no one is even really considering it outside of the wackadoo lefties like Nadler, Schiff, AOC, and the mostest diversity contestants. So doing so just creates more drama and divisiveness and is counter productive to moving forward. So yea, being different, which is what I liked about him, loses its value when you start acting like everyone else just to promote your cause. I hope he loses his re election bid. Yeah I like Tulsi's foreign policy, but my guess would be that it's all hot air. I don't really trust her on it. It bothers me how much she panders to the parents of fallen soldiers. Every things she said started with "As a veteran I did this and that." Not to diminish her service, but we get it, you served and did some intense things. Service in the military doesn't mean you'll be solid on foreign policy. You shouldn't make it a focal point for every stance you take. I think about people like Ron Paul (who was a flight surgeon in Vietnam. Dude left his wife and kids to serve in a war he vehemently opposed). But he barely references it unless someone forces the discussion that way. It's frustrating how every candidate on that stage neglected facts (gun deaths) and simply spewed off emotion. What a terrible way to lead a country and create policy.

I think the purpose of Amash being public about his opinion wasn't to actually impeach him. He talked about it in his town hall at length. It was merely to make people aware to the fact that your own party and your preferred candidates shouldn't be above the law. I can see your point but it is a key issue that can bring attention to a third party candidate from both sides of the isle. SO yeah, it was a bit of a pandering moment. But It wasn't unfounded or emotional pandering. His voting record is impeccable, and I find him to be the most consistent an fair politician we have had in a long time. I also like the fact that he has a strong dislike for Keynesian economics.
