How does the system work in Canada, is it the queen of England that needs to dismiss/impeach Mr Trudeau?

The equivalent of the impeachment in most other countries, including Canada is a “Vote of no confidence”. If the majority of the parliament votes for no confidence, the prime minister needs to resign. Same system in Britain, Germany and many other countries. Very simple. The British PM May got a vitro fertilization no confidence and needs to resign for example.

Thanks - I think the queen also has a lot of power to dismiss governments; not sure how much and it is not clear if it has been exercised?

Not any more. The Constitution was repatriated back to Canada in 1982, by Trudeau pere.

In a poll conducted by Ipsos-Reid following the first prorogation of the 40th parliament on 4 December 2008, it was found that 42% of the sample group thought the prime minister was head of state, while 33% felt it was the governor general. Only 24% named the Queen as head of state,[140] a number up from 2002, when the results of an EKOS Research Associates survey showed only 5% of those polled knew the Queen was head of state (69% answered that it was the prime minister).[161]

The Queen has no real power anywhere so far as I know.
