Parsad
Those around Trump should truly advise him to take a different approach here...not going to happen, but it may be the most disgusting thing he's done during his tenure. I cannot fathom or understand how Trump supporters would continue to defend this...completely indefensible now after McCain's passing and everything he did during his life...whether you agree with all his decisions or not. The title of the post isn't referencing McCain! Cheers! https://news.yahoo.com/trump-attacks-on-mc-cain-bomb-at-tank-factory-203505733.html
Gregmal
Trump's approach here is peculiar. McCain did spent his last few years bitter(probably about not winning the Presidency) and attacking Trump, but that does not discredit what he sacrificed for the country. Trump is better off going after living opponents, than ripping on dead veterans. Poor use of time, with very little payoff in terms of political points. On the other hand - even tougher to watch 3 New Democrat stars show their blatant hatred of Jews time and time again WITHOUT their party leadership coming down on them like a ton of bricks. Lots to dislike about politics these days.
rkbabang
McCain was a war monger, the horrendously evil public face of the military industrial complex. Every peace loving human being should make a pilgrimage to Annapolis to piss on his grave. Just one more example of Trump doing the right things for the wrong reasons. cwericb
The term “hero” is often misused today. The guy who successfully lands his plane on the water is not a hero, he is a damned good pilot. The hero is someone who takes great risks to save others. In July 1967 when the USS Forrestal’s flight deck burst into flame and with aircraft and bombs exploding killing over 100, McCain risked his life to rescue a fellow pilot and was wounded by bomb fragments for his efforts. A few months later he was shot down over Hanoi. With a fractured leg and tow fractured arms he then had his shoulder crushed with a rifle butt and was bayoneted while being taken prisoner. After a year of gruesome torture and imprisonment that nearly killed him, he was offered release when the enemy discovered his father was Admiral McCain. However refused to accept preferential treatment unless his fellow prisoners were released with him. He endured two years of solitary confinement and regular beatings the five and a half years he remained a prisoner. He was released in 1975. Trump had five deferments, and took every advantage of his father’s wealth. Yet this gutless wonder has the audacity to attack McCain who has been dead for seven months. Trump lied about McCain’s academic standing and at the same time he has own lawyers threaten lawsuits against any of his alma maters who release any of his own school marks. That's a great post - McCain is definitely a hero - and Trump should have never gone there. The guy definitely makes mistakes.
cwericb
Thanks. "The guy definitely makes mistakes." Yup, don't we all? But the rest of us usually realize that, shut up and move on. But McCain has been dead for seven months and Trump has attacked him daily for most of the week. It's like the "Tim Apple" incident when he introduced Tim Cook, CEO of Apple as Tim Apple. That was funny and drew some laughter. But he couldn’t handle laughter. He brooded about it for five days and then stated... “I quickly referred to Tim + Apple as Tim/Apple as an easy way to save time & words.” Who does that? These may seem small things in themselves, but they give one an insight into the mind of the man who supposedly the leader of the free world and I think that is scary. I find the fact that people refer to one man as "the leader of the free world" to be damn scary. I hope he finds new ways to disgrace that office everyday.
