Do you think Colin Kapernick is a thug?  Do you think Colin Kapernick is anti-American?  Just curious

I do not think he is a thug, from what I know of him. I do not have enough information to determine if he is anti-American. My best guess would be that he is the same as most Americans; self consumed and interested in furthering his own cause above all else(otherwise, odd timing for this campaign, you know, after he was rumored to be getting cut and likely would have been a backup at best on a bad team going forward). I do know that these words have nothing to do with racism. Outside of the fact that the perpetual victims continually seek to commandeer more and more of the English language for their "cause". Quite pathetic.

The world is clearly upside down when a college graduate, NFL star, who throws away his career for personal, non-violent reasons is called a thug and anti-American, and a decorated Marine, POW, senator, whose two sons also served is called a loser and failure.

I agree with you Greg that those parents are overreacting, but the Vice-Principal's opinion of Kaepernick is also a million miles off base.  If Kaepernick looked like Aaron Rodgers, do you think he would be calling him a thug?  I know, I know, you can't tell us what the Vice-Principal would think in that case...but deep down you know.

Cheers!

I think Kapernick is hero and I fully support what he is doing and applaud Nike for supporting him.  But the words "anti-american thug" are not racist.  Sorry, but they just aren't.  I disagree that he is anti-American and I disagree that he is a thug, but where is the racism in calling someone that?  Can white people not be anti-American thugs as well?

I don't think it is necessary to bring race into everything.  And it diminishes the charge of racism when it is present if it is thrown around all the time when it isn't.  They hate Kapernick because he didn't stand for their special song and worship their magic sky-cloth, race has little to do with it.  Yes he did this to protest racist cops, but you hardly ever hear anyone talk about why he took a knee only that he did.  It is all about muh flag, muh flag, and muh special song!
