ourkid8
Hey guys, for those eligible to vote in the Ontario provincial elections, who are you voting for? My personal opinion is, Wynne has destroyed the province and she has to be kicked out.

My personal opinion is, Wynne has destroyed the province and she has to be kicked out. I agree about Wynne. She's got to go. That said, I am on the fence between PCs and Not voting. I voted for John Tory and Tim Hudak; I would be happy to vote for Christine Elliott; Doug Ford is a bridge too far. He is basically a Trump-lite... nuff said. I'm in a very Liberal riding. Me not voting not going to change a thing.
NormR
If you want to vote "none of the above", you can decline the ballot and you'll appear in the official stats. Otherwise, you'll be counted as too lazy to show up. Declining your ballot Ontario’s election law allows voters to decline their ballot. To decline your ballot, tell the election official that you are declining your right to vote when they hand you a ballot. This is a public process and is done out loud. The election official will mark “declined” on the election documentation and your ballot will not be placed in the ballot box but in an envelope for declined ballots. Declined ballots will be counted and reported after the polls close on election night and included in the official results as “declined ballots". The Conservatives continue to be a train wreck. The NDP are the party of the unions and most likely would outspend the Liberals. Christine Elliott was the smart choice for leader but her campaign was being run by Mike Harris. So take that how ever you want.... I may take Norm's advice and decline the ballot. SharperDingaan
Choices are that you can get run by 'drug dealers' (We ARE now in the POT business, & have expertise!), the Indian/Union community (clueless & cuting each others throats), or a corrupt (but at least competent) Liberal. All wonderful choices! Oppositions that are so incompetent, they can't even get their own show up & running. But CAN run a Province? Yup, no problem! Or maybe it's just that the Liberals take it - shortly after which there are a bunch of new heads, and a slew of 'retirement' notices 3-6 months after the big event? Throw da bums out! - but drop the bodies quietly? SD
ourkid8
For those who selected they are not voting... Do you understand that you are potentially going to prevent the PC government from forming a majority? We will continue to be run by extreme left wing parties (Wynne Liberals/NDP) who are looking to run large deficits who in turn will destroy our province. Doug ford is truly the lesser of two evils at this point...
augustabound
Doug ford is truly the lesser of two evils at this point... Your proof is what? He's said sweet f*ck all so far. When asked the legitimate questions he deflects with some Wynn rhetoric. When pressed to actually answer questions he gets noticeably irritated. Does he not want to tip his hand until he actually campaigns for the premier's office or does he not have a plan. The 2 talk radio stations here in Ottawa are obviously conservative. Even they've been questioning if Ford even has a plan. These are 2 radio stations who at times rooted for Ford to win the PC leadership. rukawa
Debt in Ontario is about 311 billion. There are 7.2 million employed ontarians. So each employed person is on the hook for 311/7.2= $43,000 per person. Now most of those 7.2 million people aren't paying a lot of taxes. The 7.2 million includes baristas working at Starbucks. I would guess the people on this board are making enough money that typically they would be responsible for double that...lets say $100,000. Seems high to me. This doesn't include the debt owed at the federal level or municipal level. Not sure what we have gotten for the $100,000. Only service that has improved is that I can now get parking at the Go station...but I don't think I would pay $100,000 for that. They are going to massively massively expand go Service. Since I'm already satisfied with GO I can't see how it will improve things or how it won't be enormously expensive to run.

Since I'm already satisfied with GO I can't see how it will improve things or how it won't be enormously expensive to run. See this is BS and I suspect that you know it. First of all you can do scary tales with the state debt of almost any jurisdiction. Let's see Germany: 2,119 Bn Euro in national debt. This doesn't include any state or local debt. Germany has 44.6 million employed people - including baristas. So that's 47.5k EUR per employed of 74.1k CAD. Scary right! Yet nobody is jumping ship. We can go even deeper. Wanna do West-Rhine-Westphalia? Should we do the United States? Then we can really scare some children. Secondly, no you're not on the hook for 43,000 or 100,000 or anything like that. Do you know of any government that issued a bill to it's citizens for their share of the debt? Do you think they'll start with you? The debt will never be paid back and the conservatives (both party and people) don't really want to and don't really care. What about the other side of the ledger? Who is this money owed to? It's mostly ourselves. And I bet that anyone who owns an Ontario bond thinks of it very much as an asset as opposed to a liability. Thirdly, what you got for Ontario increasing its debt load wasn't more parking at the GO station. What you got was that you've paid lower taxes. So this year you've paid somewhat less in taxes than you should have. The government runs a deficit and borrows that shortfall at say 2.1%. You get to keep the money and say invest it at a pedestrian 8%. Over time I suspect this has proven very lucrative for you. I know it has for me. Lastly, if fiscal responsibility is the issue here, what credibility or bona fides do the Conservatives have? Last time they were in power they've increased provincial debt at 4.9% CAGR while downloading services to municipalities. The Liberals increased provincial debt at 5.5% CAGR while uploading services from municipalities. Big woop!

Do you know of any government that issued a bill to it's citizens for their share of the debt?" LOL! Ever heard of market forces? What happened in Greece? Credit ratings? Even Quebec is capable to balance its budget under a Liberal government. Should tell you a lot about how Ontario has been mismanaged. SharperDingaan
Rob Ford had a lot of 'druggie friends', & Dougie runs with the same crowd. No amount of whitewash will remove the smell. PC 'leadership' did everything it could to 'rig' the leadership vote against him (not counting some votes, repeated 'extension' delays, challenging the 'win') - & were so incompetent, that they couldn't even 'knobble' their own nomination process. Ford won, & the PCs couldn't even get people to show up for the 'victory' party. Bozo the clown could do a better job - AND IS! Doug Ford is PC leader. With the PC knives out, how long can it really be before we see 'heads on a stick' ? The gong show is great entertainment. SD
